Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship Winners Announced

IRVING, Texas - Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowksy named the 12 recipients of the Postgraduate Scholarship Awards today. The conference annually presents the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the Faculty Athletics Representatives.

Terri Davenport, East Carolina, Women's Track & Field
Davenport has proven success in the classroom, athletically and taken an active role in the community. A four-year sprinter for the Pirates, she was named team captain and twice earned all-conference honors. She also served as Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The Dale City, Va., native earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and was accepted to the ECU School of Business. Davenport is currently enrolled in the MBA Program with a concentration in taxation.

Lucas Mireles, Houston, Men's Track & Field
Mireles has competed three seasons as a shot putter for the Cougars. He placed sixth at this year's C-USA Indoor Track & Field Championships and had three other Top 5 finishes during the season. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Production and plans to further his education by returning to UH to begin a graduate program in mass communications and then attend film school. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native achieved a 4.00 GPA during the 2005 fall semester and was named the Outstanding Senior by the School of Communications.

Jeff Mullins, Marshall, Football
Mullins excelled in both the classroom and on the field during his four years at Marshall. A four-year letterwinner as a tight end and long snapper, the senior was named team captain. Mullins was a semifinalist for the Draddy Award - the Academic equivalent to the "Heisman" - and is a two-time member of CoSIDA's ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team. The Gallipolis, Ohio, native earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, with a minor in chemistry, and has been accepted to the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University.

Rusty Clayton, Memphis, Football
While starting every game for three straight seasons at Memphis, Clayton earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology in December 2005 and another degree in history in May 2006. He has earned the Tigers' Role Player Award in 2005 and the Special Teams Player of the Year in 2003. Clayton, a native of Sumrall, Miss., will pursue a Master of Arts Degree in criminology/criminal justice for a career in public service.

Sarah Yoder, Rice, Women's Soccer/Women's Track & Field/Cross Country
The multi-sport athlete earned 11 letters in her four years at Rice University, while achieving a 3.73 GPA as a biochemistry and kinesiology double major. Yoder was a forward on the Owls soccer team that qualified for two NCAA Championships and won the Conference USA tournament title in 2005. As a junior, she led the team in goals, assists and total points. Yoder also ran the steeplechase and distance events, setting the school record for the 3,000-meter women's steeplechase. She is a three-time selection to the President's Honor Roll, twice named the Rice Scholar Athlete of the Year and was selected to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2006. The Salt Lake City, Utah, native will be attending the University of Texas-Houston Medical School this fall.

Halley Rambally, SMU, Women's Tennis
Rambally, a native of Allen, Texas, served as the co-captain of the 2005-06 Mustang women's tennis squad and earned a spot on the C-USA all-conference third team. The biochemistry major graduated with a 3.912 GPA and was named to the Honor Roll with High Distinction for seven straight semesters, as well as the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team twice. She was accepted to the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston, where she will study to become a doctor in family practice.

Micah Stephens, Southern Miss, Women's Soccer
The midfielder served as team captain her senior year and earned four letters with the Golden Eagle women's soccer team. A native of Alvarado, Texas, Stephens earned a spot on the 2005 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team, and was named to the National Dean's List, President's List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. She will continue her education at Southern Miss to pursue a Master's Degree in Public Accountancy.

Brianne Darragh, Tulane, Women's Track & Field
Darragh lettered three times in both indoor and outdoor women's track & field during her career at Tulane. With a double major in French and sociology, she graduated with a 3.897 GPA and cum laude honors. She received the Newcomb Alpha Epsilon Phi Romance Languages Scholar Award, French Government Book Award, the 2006 Newcomb Oak Wreath and the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Darragh is returning home to begin a job as a hedge funds portfolio accounting analyst for an investment firm and will be working towards an MBA degree.

Matt Wiley, Tulsa, Men's Soccer
Wiley, a senior from Carrollton, Texas, earned four varsity letters as a midfielder for the Golden Hurricane and was selected to the 2005 All-Conference USA second team. He was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American following his senior season and also earned a TU's Garrison Award for the highest grade point for a student-athlete with a perfect 4.0. A philosophy major, with a Spanish/religion minor, Wiley was Phi Beta Kappa and earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. He plans to continue his studies in philosophy and obtain a PhD to become a university professor.

Sebastian Falk, UAB, Men's Tennis
Falk achieved success both in the in the classroom and on the tennis courts for the Blazers. A transfer to UAB, Falk has lettered two years at UAB and was twice named to the All-Conference USA second team. A finance major, Falk earned a 3.91 GPA and earned a number of academic awards, including CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team, the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and the UAB Senior Academic Award for the graduating senior male with the highest GPA. Falk was also selected to participate in the 2006 CEO Seminar for the Top 36 seniors in business and plans to obtain a Masters of Business Administration at UAB.

Tracy Fischler, UCF, Women's Track & Field
The pole vaulter lettered two times for the Golden Knights, earning Atlantic Sun All-Conference laurels in 2004. The Tallahassee, Fla., native was selected to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, a C-USA Academic Medalist and was twice named to the A-Sun all-academic team. Fischler received her Bachelor of Science Degree in molecular microbiology and is already enrolled at the Florida State University College of Medicine, where she hopes to pursue a career in sports medicine or orthopedic surgery.

Ingrid Goslin, UTEP, Women's Basketball
Goslin was a four-year letterwinner as a center on the Miner women's basketball team. She served as vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was a member of the National Honor Society of Psychology. In addition, she was named to the Dean's List for two years, the WAC Academic Team and the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology, the El Paso native plans to pursue a Master's Degree in educational counseling at UTEP.
