IRVING, Texas - In conjunction with the annual Conference USA Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) meetings, student-athlete representatives from 11 C-USA schools visited the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children on Saturday, July 8.

The student-athletes received a tour of the hospital and then spent an hour in the hospital's Dr. Bob and Jean Smith Child Life Center, playing games, watching movies and doing arts and crafts projects with patients.

The Conference USA SAAC functions to strengthen the communication between the campus and national committees. The committee reviews all issues relating to the student-athlete experience and welfare. The SAAC holds meetings three times each year, including one in-person meeting during July. Through increased communication and networking, the SAAC hopes to better represent the views of all student-athletes. The C-USA SAAC is made up of one student-athlete representative from each member institution.

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is one of the nation's leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, like dyslexia. There is no charge to patient families for treatment at the hospital, and admission is open to Texas children from birth to 18 years of age.
