ORLANDO, Fla. - XOS Technologies, a leading provider of advanced digital video, ticketing and broadband media solutions to professional and collegiate athletic organizations, today announced that Conference USA has selected XOS Replay as its official in-game instant replay solution for football.
"When it comes to instant replay, officials need the support to keep them at the top of their game," said Britton Banowsky, C-USA Commissioner. "That's why we conducted careful research and found that XOS Replay provided the best solution to meet our needs. We really appreciate that the XOS system provides flexibility and customization that will empower our officials with tremendous vantage points and the best technology available to them to manage fairness of the game."
XOS Replay includes two video screens so that one official can review the play while another collects additional angles; resulting in a more informed decision. The solution will enable the C-USA replay monitors to review and create bookmarks for each play without disrupting the game. The replay officials can then decide which plays to review and can cue up several angles in advance to expedite the process once it begins. Remote control and touch-screen control devices are used to sort through video clips, control video speed and direction, and move through video clips frame-by-frame.
"We're extremely pleased to partner with C-USA for its instant replay solution," said Bob Simmons, President of XOS Coaching Solutions. "We worked very closely with C-USA to develop a system that exceeded the Conference's expectations."
Earlier this year, the Collegiate Commissioners Association formed a subcommittee to meet regarding the most critical issues facing college football instant replay. Chaired by former Big 12 Conference Commissioner Kevin Weiberg, the subcommittee created a list of standards to which all instant replay systems must adhere. The XOS Replay solution for C-USA, as well as other XOS partners, was deemed fully compliant.
Other XOS Replay partners include football for the PAC-10, MAC, Sun Belt and Big 12 conferences, the Canadian Football League and ARMY Black Knights; and hockey for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
