Southern Miss and Memphis both earned big wins Saturday to set-up a huge match-up Wednesday. The Golden Eagles picked up their first win at UCF Arena, while snapping the Knights 16-game home court win streak with a 78-65 victory. Memphis was led by a career-high 29 points from Will Barton for an 83-76 defeat over Marshall. Southern Miss hosts the Tigers for a 7 p.m. CST tip at Reed Green to battle for sole possession of first place in the C-USA standings. Tulsa won its sixth-straight game, picking up a 66-60 road win at SMU.
Sophomore forward Jessica Kuster posted her ninth double-double of the season to lead the Rice Owls to a 58-50 victory at Houston Saturday afternoon inside Hofheinz Pavilion. The Owls have now won three consecutive games. Kuster scored a game-high 19 points and snared a game-high 16 rebounds to help head coach Greg Williams win his 100th victory as coach of the Owls. She also had four steals and a blocked shot on the day.

Conference USA announced its 2012 preseason baseball awards, as chosen by the league's nine head coaches. UCF junior utility player D.J. Hicks was chosen as the preseason Player of the Year, while Rice sophomore left-hander Austin Kubitza was named the preseason Pitcher of the Year. Rice was chosen to win the league's championship. The Owls have won either the regular season or tournament championship in each of its first six years as a member of C-USA.
