Juniors Sam Korbe of Tulsa and Pablo Acuna of Houston both earned their first collegiate victories and share Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors for spring tournament play for the week of Feb. 15-21. SMU sophomore Lacey Jones was named the first C-USA Women's Golfer of the Week of the spring as she also earned medalist honors at the Central District Invitational and led the Mustangs to a third-place team finish.

Men's Golfers of the Week
Sam Korbe - Tulsa (Junior, Springdale, Ark.)

After his performance at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, Korbe becomes the second Golden Hurricane golfer to earn conference honors in as many weeks. Korbe was also named the Golfweek Collegiate Player of the Week as he defeated Florida's Brett Stegmaier in a playoff to take medalist honors. In the final round, Korbe birdied five of the last nine holes to finish with a 67 and a three-round par 210 (73-70-67). Tulsa placed second in the tournament behind host Florida.

Pablo Acuna - Houston (Junior, Guatemala City, Guatemala)
Acuna fired a 4-under-par 68 in the final round to win his first collegiate individual title at the Club de Golf Santa Anita/North Texas Classic in Guadalajara, Mexico. Acuna birdied five of the last six holes and carded a three-round score of 210. The junior led the Cougars to a team title as well in the 11-team field. Acuna, who earned C-USA Golfer of the Week honors on Sept. 21, has posted a team-low 70.9 stroke average in five tournaments during the 2005-06 season.

Women's Golfer of the Week
Lacey Jones - SMU (Sophomore, Idabel, Okla.)

Jones fired a final-round 2-under 70 to win the Central District Invitational at the 6,099-yard, par-72 River Wilderness Golf Club in Parrish, Fla. Her final round propelled her to an easy four-stroke win. Jones was the only golfer to finish the event under par and was one of only two golfers to be under par over the final 18. As a team, SMU finished third at 908, one shot behind second-place Ohio State and 12 shots back of champion Baylor.
