UAB Women's Golf 13th at Green Wave Classic

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The UAB women’s golf team shot a 993 to finish 13th at the 15-team Green Wave Classic hosted by Tulane.

UAB shot a final-round 334 on Tuesday after rounds of 332 and 327 on Monday. Sophomore Christina Gushanas led the Blazers on Tuesday with an 82, while freshman Emily Hendricks was the overall low scorer for UAB with a 242.

Hendricks tied for 29th, while Gushanas tied for 34th along with junior Heather Lourie who both shot 244.

Sophomore Jenni Elmore placed 72nd, scoring a 267, while freshman Katie Kane rounded out the score with 271 and a 75th place finish.

Tennessee held on to their first day lead to win the team competition with its score of 921. The Vols captured the win by 21 strokes over Vanderbilt.

Tina Schneeberger completed the sweep for the Vols, as she claimed medal honors after defeating Meredeth Ward of Vanderbilt in a playoff. Both players finished the tournament with an 8-over par 227.

The Blazers will compete next at the Lady Seahawk Invitational on Mar. 26-27 in Wilmington, NC.
