University of Memphis men's golfer Keven Fortin-Simard was named the Golfweek.com National Men's Golfer of the Week on Monday.

The sophomore medaled in the Border Olympics on Saturday with a school 54-round record 203 and helping the Tigers place second in the tournament. Fortin-Simard carded rounds of 66-69-68 for a 13-under final score and finishing one stroke ahead of Baylor's Ryan Baca on the par-72, 7,241-yard course at the Laredo Country Club.

The first place finish is the third of the year for the Roberval, Quebec native and second in three spring tournaments. Fortin-Simard has medaled four times in his two-year career at Memphis and has 10 top 10 finishes, including three-straight top six performances.

Fortin-Simard also tied a program record with a 135 in the first 36 holes, tying him with David Jeans who set the total at the Landfall Tradition during the 2003-04 season. The previous 54-hole low was 205 set by Andy Shiels at the Missouri Bluffs during the 2004-05 season.

Fortin-Simard is the second men's golfer from Conference USA to be honored with the weekly selection this spring. Tulsa's Sam Korbe was named the men's player of the week on Feb. 20.
