UAB's Osborn Leads Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate

OPELIKA, Ala. -- Payton Osborn of the 24th-ranked UAB men's golf team leads the competition after the first round of the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in Opelika after firing a 5-under par 67. The season low score for the junior puts him two strokes ahead of the field, with three players tied for second at 3-under par.

After a first round 285, UAB is tied for second with host Auburn, while Georgia State leads the 12-team field with 282.

Also in the top-15 for the Blazers is Daniel Ozley who is tied for 13th after shooting an even-par 72. Drew Jones and 63rd-ranked Graeme McDowell both finished the day with a 1-over par 73 and are tied for 22nd place. Rounding out the line-up for the Blazers is Craig Gordon who is tied for 40th after shooting 75.

The second round of play will begin at 8:00 a.m. CST Saturday morning.
