ECU Men's Golf Finishes Second At Bradford Creek Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina University men's golf team finished in second place this afternoon after completing the final round of the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate. UNC Wilmington won the 25 team tournament, with a three-round score of 856, eight strokes under par. ECU finished just five strokes behind the Seahawks, at three under for a three-round total of 861, to finish as runner-up. The tournament, hosted by East Carolina, was played at Bradford Creek?s par 72, 7,151 yard golf course.

In day one of the tournament, the Pirates shot four over par, with a score of 292 in the opening round of the day, but came on strong in the afternoon round, shooting 11 under par to complete the day at seven under. In this morning?s final round of the tournament, the Pirates shot 292, four over par to finish with a final score of 861, three under for the tournament.

?We played extremely well today,? said ECU head coach Kevin Williams, ?UNC Wilmington just beat us. Our guys battled tough conditions today with the wind and cold, and beat a lot of really good teams, many of which we have not won against this year. So, we are really proud of our effort.?

UNC Wilmington?s Adam Gee won the individuals, finishing at 211, five stokes under par. ECU?s Adam Howell finished in a tie for seventh place with a score of 215. Howell shot 70 in round one, and 71 in the second round, and 74 in today?s final round.

The Pirates will be on the course again this weekend, April 12 and 13 when they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to participate in the Wofford Intercollegiate.
