April 5 Golfers of the Week
Louisville freshman Derek Fathauer and Memphis sophomore Stacey Tate were named the Conference USA Golfers of the Week for tournament play through April 5. Both earned medallist honors over the weekend for their respective tournaments. Fathauer won the Forest Oaks Intercollegiate to lead the Cardinals to their third team title this season. Tate won the Southern Miss Golden Eagle Invitational with a 2-over 215, which breaks the previous three-round school record of 219.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Derek Fathauer - Louisville (Freshman, Jensen Beach, Fla.)
Fathauer fired a final round score of 71 to earn medallist honors at the Forest Oaks Intercollegiate at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Fathauer carded a 71-72-71=214 for the top finish of his career and outscore the runner-up by two strokes. He led the Cardinals to their third team title of the 2004-05 season. It was Fathauer’s fourth Top 10 finish of the season.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Stacey Tate - Memphis (Sophomore, New Zealand)
Tate took medallist honors at the Southern Miss Golden Eagle Invitational after shooting a par-71 in the final round. She finished the tournament with a 71-73-71=215 (+2), setting a school record three-round low score and knocking nine strokes off her previous best of 224. Tate becomes the first Tiger to medal since Jennifer Jaszek in the 2002 Memphis Women’s Intercollegiate.
