    Memphis freshman Ian Rochester and TCU sophomore Camille Blackerby were named the Conference USA Golfers of the Week for tournament play through April 12. Rochester earned medalist honors at Auburn’s Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate, shooting a personal best 65 in the first round. Blackerby led the Horned Frogs to their first team title since 2003 by tying for second at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational.

    Ian Rochester – Memphis (Freshman, Cordova, Tenn.)

    Rochester became the fourth different Tiger to win medallist honors this season with his win at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate, hosted by Auburn. Rochester shot a personal best 65 (improving his previous best by six strokes) in the first round. He finished with a five-under 211 (65-72-74) to edge out Auburn All-American Lee Williams by one stroke after leading the tournament wire-to-wire. The 65 was also the second-lowest round in school history as he led Memphis to a runner-up finish in the 12-team field.

    Women’s Golfer of the Week
    Camille Blackerby – TCU (Sophomore, Breckenridge, Texas)

    Blackerby led the Horned Frogs to a co-championship at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind., over the weekend. Blackerby carded her lowest three-round total with a 76-73-71=220 to place second individually and tie her best career finish. TCU tied with No. 25 Michigan for the title and defeated four ranked teams in the 13-team field. Blackerby was also named the C-USA Golfer of the Month for February.

    CHARLOTTE sophomore Ray Sheedy shot one-over 217 (69-76-72) to tie for sixth place at Auburn’s Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate. Sheedy led the 49ers to a third-place finish among the 12-team field that included seven Top 100 programs. It was Charlotte’s third consecutive Top 3 finish and eighth Top 5 finish in 10 tournaments this season. … CINCINNATI junior Adam Fluty shot a final round 75 as the Cincinnati men’s golf team wrapped up the pre-Conference USA Tournament portion of its schedule at the Billiken Invitational on Tuesday. Fluty finished the tournament tied for 14th overall with a three-round score of 216. Sophomore Geoff Newman carded the Bearcats’ lowest round of the day, a 72, to finish tied for 56th. … DE PAUL freshman Will Cumberland, who was tied for 43rd after the first two rounds of the Billiken Invitational, fired a final round 68 to finish tied for 14th overall at 216. Cumberland opened play with rounds of 76 and 72 at the Gateway National Golf Club. The Blue Demons tied with Missouri Baptist for ninth place with a team score of 874. Individually, senior Kyle Patterson was second for DePaul and tied for 31st overall after shooting a three-round total of 220. … EAST CAROLINA was idle this week. The men’s golf team used a final round 298, the second-lowest score of the day, to leap past VCU and claim a fourth-place finish at the Forest Oaks Intercollegiate in Greensboro, N.C. last week. The Pirates placed a pair of golfers in the top-15 with junior Robin Smith (225) finishing tied for 12th and classmate Philip Reale (226) placing tied for 14th. … HOUSTON was idle this week after concluding its regular season with a 14th-place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the Austin Country Club. Sophomore Pablo Acuna fired an even-par 72 in the final round to finish at 11-over-par 217 and tie for 32nd place in leading the Cougar linksters. Acuna's final round was the Cougars' best score at the tournament. … LOUISVILLE freshman Daryl Fathauer paced the Cardinals, firing a 70-69-67=206, to their second consecutive team title with a win at the Marshall Invitational. Fauthauer tied the second-best 54-hole score in school history His twin brother Derek Fauthauer placed fourth with a 72-71-66=209. … MARQUETTE finished 13th at the Marshall Invitational. Junior Joe Weber led the team with a 28th-place finish. The Golden Eagles shot a 295 in the final round, finishing at 40-over, 892. Freshman Ted Gray finished in 35th place, shooting a 222. Sophomore Michael Bielawski was in 44th place, shooting an 11-over 224. … MEMPHIS freshman Ian Rochester earned C-USA Golfer of the Week honors and became the fourth Tiger this season to earn individual medalist honors. Rochester shot a personal best 65 in the first round and held a wire-to-wire lead at Auburn’s Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate. Memphis placed second in the 12-team field. … SAINT LOUIS placed third at the Billiken Invitational, hosted Monday and Tuesday at Gateway National Golf Links. Evan Frederick finished seventh to lead SLU. He entered Tuesday’s final round in sixth place after posting back-to-back 70’s during Monday’s competition. … SOUTHERN MISS, host of the 2005 C-USA Men’s Golf Championship, shot a team total of 296 in the ASU Indian Classic, played Tuesday at the par 72, 6,539-yard Ridge Point Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark. The tournament was limited to just one round, instead of the normal three rounds, due to inclement weather on Monday. Danny Dennis led the Golden Eagle contingent with a 1-under par 71, to tie for 11th overall. … TCU used a total team effort in a wire-to-wire 54-hole victory at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz in their last outing March 27-29. It was the 12th-rated Horned Frogs' first tournament title of the 2004-05 campaign and comes just three weeks before the Conference USA Championships, where TCU will be seeking its school-record fifth straight league title. … TULANE comes off a third place finish at the LSU Spring Invitational and is idle until next week’s Conference USA Championships. … UAB junior Clark Brown matched his career low round for 18 holes with a four-under-par 68 in the final round of the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate, hosted by Auburn. For the three-day, 54-hole event, Brown trimmed four shots each round, shooting 76-72-68. He finished the tournament tied for third with Auburn All-SEC performer Tyler McKeever and helped UAB to a fifth place finish out of 12 teams. Brown recorded his low round of 18 for the season and matched the 68 he carded in the Conference USA Championships his freshman season in 2003. The even-par 216 total for 54 holes matched Brown's University Club Intercollegiate performance at LSU last October which was his low 54-hole score for the year. Brown now has five rounds at or under par for the season. Senior Ryan Thomas finished ninth at the Billy Hitchcock, marking the Welshman's third top-10 finish of the year and seventh of his career. His second round, one-under 71 also snapped a streak of 10 rounds at or above par for Thomas, who recorded six rounds under par in his first five tournaments this season. … USF was idle this week following a 16th-place finish at the LSU Spring Invitational.

    WOMEN
    CINCINNATI was idle this week after coming off a runner-up finish at the UC/UD Women’s Golf Invitational. Senior Allison Couch and freshman Hillery Wilson tied for second place as the Bearcats placed second out of seven teams. … EAST CAROLINA senior golfer Adrienne Millican recorded her sixth top-10 finish of the season at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational after carding a 54-hole score of 225, nine-over par, finishing tied for eighth place. The tournament was being held at the par-72, 6,025-yard Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex’s Kampen Course. The Pirates finished tied for ninth with Iowa State in the team portion of the event after posting rounds of 316, 306 and 307 for a 54-hole total of 929. … LOUISVILLE was idle this week, coming off a 17th place finish at the tough Bryan National Collegiate. … MEMPHIS sophomore Stacey Tate earned medalist honors in the Tigers’ last outing at the Southern Miss Golden Eagle Invitational after shooting a par-71 in the final round last week. Tate was also named the C-USA Golfer of the Week for her efforts. Memphis will host the 2005 C-USA Women’s Golf Championship at the Germantown Country Club… SAINT LOUIS finished 14th at the SMS Payne Stewart Memorial behind back-to-back rounds of 88 from freshman Jenny Madras, but the Billikens were idle this week. … SOUTHERN MISS was also idle this week, coming off a runner-up finish at their own Lady Eagle Invitational at the Canebreak Country Club. … TCU won its first team title since 2003, tying with No. 25 Michigan at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. C-USA Golfer of the Week Camille Blackerby tied for second with a 76-73-71=220. Senior D'Rae Ward finished in a two-way tie for fifth with a six-over par total score. Sophomore Catherine Matranga finished nine-over par in a tie for eighth place at nine-over par to help the Frogs seal a part of first place. Blackerby also earned C-USA Golfer of the Month honors in February … TULANE was idle this week, coming off a sixth-place finish at the prestigious Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C. … UAB has already turned out its best season in school history in terms of the Blazer record book. Five school records have been broken or tied this season, including all three team scoring records. Kim Wilcox's club notched a school-record-tying 299 team score for a round at the Taco Bell Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C., in October. UAB's 912 score for the 54-hole event trimmed a stroke off the previous school record for three rounds. The team's 607 score for 36-holes at the Lady Aztec Fall Individual in October trimmed a shot off the previous school record for two rounds. The Blazers then chopped another from that record by firing a 606 at the John Kirk/Lady Panther Invitational one week later. In addition to the fantastic team play, UAB has also seen personal records fall. Brooke Mangan established a new school record with a round of 68 at the Taco Bell Intercollegiate. Her 54-hole score of 214 shattered the old mark of 221 held by Marika Pluta and Heather Lourie. Each of UAB's individuals has also either broken or tied a personal record for 18- or 54-hole scores this season. … USF was idle this week. In the Bulls’ last outing, they overcame a four-shot deficit at the Ryder Florida Women’s Collegiate Championship and fell just one shot shy in finishing second behind host Miami. The Bulls shot a 308 in the final round, but the 913 total was one behind the Hurricanes, who led wire-to-wire. Four of USF’s five golfers finished in the top 10, led by Kylene Pulley, who shot 226 through the 54 holes to tie for fifth.
