TCU's Guetz Sets Tournament Record at Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - TCU golfer Bret Guetz blistered the Karsten Course with a 54-hole score of 200 to set a new individual record at the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational over the weekend. With the victory, Guetz joined fellow senior Steve Shuert as tournament champions this year.

Guetz's 16-under par total of 200 was one stroke better than the previous record, set by Arizona State's Jeff Quinney in 1999. Guetz bested this year's second-place finisher by three strokes en route to his first-ever collegiate championship. He was sensational in all three rounds, shooting three successive sub-70 scores (68, 65, 67). It was Guetz's third top-10 placement this season and the fifth of his career.

As a team, the seventh-rated Horned Frogs placed in a tie for fifth with a 845. TCU was solid all weekend, shooting under par in each of the three rounds (283, 282, 280).
