2004 C-USA Men's Golf Championship -Day One

The 2004 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship is underway in Dade City, Fla. For the second consecutive year, the par-71, 7,083-yard, Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club is the site of the tournament, which runs through Wednesday. Two-time defending team champion TCU, is the highest ranked team in the 14-team field, coming in ninth in the Golfworld and 10th in the Golfweek polls.
The Horned Frogs’ Adam Meyer is the highest ranked player in this year’s tournament field, listed at No. 26th in the latest Golfweek individual poll. Meyer, the 2003 C-USA Championship runner-up and All-Conference USA First Team selection, has five Top 10 finishes this season.
In addition to Meyer, this year’s field also includes eight 2003 all-conference performers: East Carolina’s Jason Harris, Louisville’s Brett Jones, Memphis’ Alan Weant, SLU’s Evan Fredrick, USM’s Shane Rushing and Michael Soroka, TCU’s David Schultz and Tulane’s Chris Wheeler. Other golfers to watch include ECU’s Ryan Leveque, David Perritt of Saint Louis, TCU’s Colby Beckstrom, the Green Wave’s Michael Thompson and UAB’s Chris Cousins and Tigh Van Leeuwen, all who have claimed medalist honors this season.
