Tulane Takes Team Lead At 2004 C-USA Women's Golf Championship

Tulane shot a second round 311 to take sole possession of first place in the team standings of the 2004 Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship in Fort Worth, Texas. The Green Wave owns a two-day total of 629, while tournament host TCU fired a 308 on Tuesday to move into second place with total of 633 after two rounds. First-day co-leader, USF, is in third in the overall standings with a second day 321, giving the Bulls a 639 total going into the final day of competition. East Carolina’s Adrienne Millican shot a 76 in the second round to move into first place in the individual competition.
Louisville jumped three spots from seventh to third in the team competition with a 317 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 655. UAB remained in fifth place after two days with a 661. Southern Miss is two strokes behind inn sixth place followed by ECU (664), Memphis (692) and Cincinnati (716) in the seventh through ninth, respectively.
Tulane had three players finish in Top 10 led by Mary Ellen Jacobs in second place. Jacobs carded a second-round 75 for a two-day total of nine over par 153. Liliana Alvarez, the 2003 C-USA Freshman of the Year, is a stroke behind her teammate in third with a 154 after consecutive outings of 77.
Louisville’s Elly Leonard, who had a 79 on Monday, shot a 75 on Tuesday to move into tie with Alvarez for third. The Horned Frog duo of Camille Blackerby and Brooke Tull are tied for fifth, four shots off the lead. Blackerby registered a 75, five strokes lower than her opening round, while Tull had a 78 on the second day. First-round leader, Brooke Mangan of UAB, who fired a 73 on Monday, fell to seventh place after recording an 83 in the second round for total of 156.
Carolin Landmann of the Green Wave is in eighth place, six shots off the lead after a second-round 76, five shots better than her 81 on Monday. USF’s Jill Crowe is in ninth (79-80 – 159), while teammates Fernanda Rivera and Daniella Ronderos are tied for 10th at 160 after two rounds. Rivera carded a 77 on Tuesday, while Ronderos fired an 83.
Wednesday’s final round of the 2004 C-USA Women’s Golf Championship will start 8:30 a.m. (ET) at the par-72, 6,197-yard Shady Oaks Country Club.
