TCU Takes First Round Lead in Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship

    TAMPA, Fla. - Brooke Tull and D'Rae Ward shot a 72 and 75, respectively, in the first round of the Conference USA Women's Golf Championships at Lake Jovial Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla. today to lead TCU to the first round lead. The Horned Frogs posted a 304, three shots ahead of second place South Florida, who is hosting the nine-team event.

    Tull was the lone golfer to shoot par on the 6,105-yard course, while Ward's 75 placed her in a three-way tie for third place, one shot behind second place Ofelia Lopez from Southern Miss.

    For USF, Kelly Martin and Katie Ruhe each posted a first round 76 to join a six-way tie for sixth place, while their teammate Fany Schaeffer is in a six-way tie for 12th, including four East Carolina golfers, with a 77.

    Play continues Tuesday with 18 holes before the final round on Wednesday.
