The 2003 C-USA Golf Championships women's and men's indidivual medalists, TCU's D'Rea Ward and Charlotte's Russell Killough, respcetively, were honored as the April golfers of the month.
Women - D’Rea Ward, TCU Sophomore, Weatherford, Texas TCU’s D’Rea Ward is Conference USA’s April Co-Golfer of the Month. Ward won individual medallist honors at the 2003 C-USA Women’s Golf Championships at the Lake Jovita Golf Course in Dade City, Fla. The victory was her third solo crown of the spring for the Horned Frogs, the second most in a season in school history. The Weatherford, Texas-native fired three-round 224 (+8) with a low of 74 on the final day. Earlier this season, she won back-to-back titles at the Waterlefe/USF Invitational (March 17-18), helping TCU to the team victory, and at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout (March 23-25). Ward was named to the All-Conference USA Second Team.
Men - Russell Killough, Charlotte Freshman, Charlotte, N.C. Charlotte’s Russell Killough is Conference USA’s April Golfer of the Month. The freshman, who has been the 49ers’ top finisher in five of six spring events, took individual medallist honors at the 2003 C-USA Men’s Golf Championships (April 21-23) at the Lake Jovita Golf Course in Dade City, Fla. The Charlotte-native fired a three-round four-under par, 209 with an opening 68 on the first day. Killough had registered a pair of Top-10 finishes at the Coastal Carolina Invitational (March 10-11) and the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate (March 28-29) earlier this season. Killough was named to the All-Conference Third Team.
