C-USA Women’s Golf Teams Complete First Round At NCAA Regionals

After one round of play at the NCAA East Region Golf Tournament on Thursday, the Tulane women's golf squad is in fourth place in the team standings with a 13-over par 301, while TCU is tied for ninth at the Central Region Tournament with a 24-over par 308. The Green Wave, the 2004 Conference USA Champion, is competing at the par-72, 6,165-yard Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort at Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla., while the Horned Frogs are participating at the par-71, 6,108-yard Illinois State University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ill.
Tulane’s Liliana Alvarez, who won medalist honors at this year's C-USA Championship, is tied for second in the individual standings with a two-under par 70. Alvarez's teammate Mary Ellen Jacobs is tied for 10th after the first day of competition with a one-over par 73. Meanwhile, TCU’s Brooke Tull, the league’s Player of the Year, is leading the way for the Horned Frog with an opening-round three-over par 74, tying her for 12th.
East Carolina’s Adrienne Millican, a C-USA First Team and All-Tournament selection, is competing as an individual in the East Region and is tied for 28th after firing an opening four-over par 76.
Top-ranked Duke is the East Region's team leader after shooting a two-under par 286 in the first round, while Vanderbilt and New Mexico are tied for the lead the team standings in the Central Region with 14-over par 298 after day one.
North Carolina's Meaghan Francella is one stroke ahead of Alvarez in the East's individual standings with a 69 on the first day. Arizona's Erica Blasberg and Texas A&M's Kyla Neal share the lead in the individual standings in Central Region with three-under par 68s in the first round. Second-round play at the East Regional will begin on Friday at 9 a.m. (ET), while Central Regional action gets under way at 8 a.m. (CT).
