DALLAS - Two members of the SMU men's golf team have advanced to sectional play in qualifying for the 2006 U.S. Open. Colt Knost, a First Team All-Conference USA selection, and Wes Homan were among players advancing from local qualifying from 110 sites.

Knost finished first is qualifying at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, shooting a 67, while Homan tied for third with a 70 at the Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. Knost and Homan will now play 36 holes at sectionals Jun 5-6.

The U.S. Open will be played at Wingedfoot in Mamaroneck. N.Y., June 15-18.
