Four C-USA Men's Golfers Earn PING Regional Recognition
June 1, 2006 SMU junior golfer Colt Knost, Sam Korbe and Ryan Henry of Tulsa and Garrett Osborn of UAB were all named to a PING All-Regional Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Knost was selected to the All-South Central Region Team, leading the Mustangs this past season with a 72.36 stroke average in 36 rounds. He won two tournaments and shot nine rounds in the 60s with a low round of 66. In leading SMU to its third straight conference title, he was also tabbed first-team All-C-USA and earned All-Tournament honors at the C-USA Championships. Both Korbe and Henry are repeat selections to the PING All-Central Region team. Korbe had five top-20 finishes this season, as well as seven top-25 performances. He had his first career win with a playoff victory over Florida's Brett Stegmaier at the Gator Invitational, after shooting rounds of 73-70-67 for an even-par 210 at that event. Korbe was a first-team all-Conference USA selection this season while firing a team-leading 72.4 stroke average in 39 rounds. Henry had six top-20 finishes this year and tied his best career finish with a fourth-place performance at the Kansas Invitational. He was named the C-USA Golfer of the Week on April 5 for his 17th place performance at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. Henry had a 72.9 stroke average in 39 rounds this season. Osborn, another All-Conference USA first team member, was named to the All-Southeast Region. The junior was selected as an at-large participant to the NCAA East Regional, but had to decline the invitation in order to undergo surgery on his right wrist. Each of the nine PING All-Region teams are comprised of 15 golfers and any player ranked in the top 75 nationally in either Golfstat or the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Members of the PING All-Region teams are eligible for PING All-America honors.
