Houston Ranked 6th in Latest Rankings; Landers and Staten Nationally Ranked

PRINCETON, N.J. (Nov. 2) - The University of Houston men's golf team is ranked No. 6 in the nation in the latest Mastercard Collegiate Golf Rankings. The Cougars received a total of 271 votes in the poll, which is administered by the College Golf Foundation in cooperation with the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and National Golf Coaches Association (NCGA), and voted on a panel of men's and women's collegiate golf coaches.

Individually, Houston's Andy Sanders is ranked No. 14 in the nation, while B.J. Staten is ranked No. 25. Sanders received a total of 109 votes in the latest poll, while Staten received 78.

The Cougar golf team finished in 14th place among a prestigious field of 18 teams in its final tournament of the 1999 fall season on November 7 at the Golf World Intercollegiate Invitational in Hilton Head, SouthCarolina. Houston shot a steady two-under par 286 Sunday to finish the 54-hole tournament with a team total of 859 strokes.
