UAB Men's Golf Team Finishes Third at Country Club of Louisiana Invitational
BIRMINGHAM - The UAB men's golf team recorded a final round 292 Tuesday
to finish third overall in the Country Club of Louisiana Invitational
played in Baton Rouge, La.
The Blazers finished three strokes behind host and tournament champion
LSU (856) while ending up just one stroke behind runner-up Tulsa (858)
as they compited a three-round team score of 859 in the event.
Following the Blazers in the team competition were Vanderbilt (872),
College of Charleston (876), Auburn (879), Augusta State (882), Ole Miss
(890), Arkansas (891), Tennessee (892), Mississippi State (892), Georgia
State (894), Florida State (901), Southern Miss (916) and Memphis (921).
UAB junior Craig Gordon fired a final-round 68 to finish third
individually with an eight-under 208 total. Sophomore Graeme McDowell
notched an eighth-place tie after shooting a 75 over his final 18 holes
for a three-under 213 total.
Junior Payton Osborn collected a 74 in his final circuit for a
three-round score of four-over 220 and a 21st place tie, while sophomore
Daniel Ozley finished tied for 29th with a six-over 222 after shooting a
75 on Tuesday. Junior Drew Jones rounded out the Blazer finishers with a
72nd place tie after a final-round 78 and 235 total.
LSU's Alan Morgan shot a even-par 72 on the final day to capture the
individual medalist honor with a three-round score of 206.
This event completed the fall portion of the Blazers' schedule. UAB
returns to action until Feb. 9-11 at the Gator Invitational at
Gainesville, Fla. |
