No. 64 UAB Falls to No. 48 Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The 64th-ranked UAB men's tennis team fell 4-1 to the
48th-ranked Crimson Tide on Alabama home turf.
UAB's season record dropped to 3-5. Alabama's record improved to 7-1.
In doubles play, Alabama won the point, taking two of the three
matches. UAB's lone doubles match win came from Andre van der Merwe and
Sanzaruz Zaman. The team defeated Chris McRae and Chris Gostek 8-6 at
no. 3 doubles.
Junior Alex Jung took the lone point for the Blazers as he defeated
Gostek in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 at no. 2 singles.
The Blazers return home on Feb. 28 to take on the 27th-ranked Auburn
Tigers. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeshore Tennis
Facility. Admission to the match is free.
