Southern Miss's Jansson and UAB's Melsheimer Earn Player of the Week Honors
Men's Player of the Week
Jansson was 2-0 last week winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. He defeated
BYU's Michael Kysens in three sets (3-6, 6-1, 6-3). Jansson also defeated
Marco Lillich of Albertson's College, 6-3, 6-1. Jansson teamed up with Konsta
Finnila and posted two wins at No. 3 doubles.
Women's Player of the Week
Melsheimer went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles. She defeated Lisa D'Amelio
of Eastern Michigan (6-3, 4-6, 6-3), Marie Lindberg of Southern Miss (6-1,
7-6) and Michaela Gridling of MTSU (7-5, 6-4). Melsheimer is currently 12-0 in
dual matches this season and 21-5 overall. She and teammate Femke deBoer are
currently 11-1 in doubles play.
