Tulane Women's Tennis Tops Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. - - The Tulane women's tennis team won the opening doubles point before splitting six singles matches with Oklahoma State en route to a 4-3 win over the Cowgirls at the Debois Tennis Center on Sunday.

Tulane improves to 10-9 overall, while Oklahoma State drops to 9-9 with the loss.

The Green Wave jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point behind wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Ana Saaibi and Julie Morris posted a 9-7 win over the OSU team of Dolman and Marsic at the No. 2 spot, while Anneli Axsater and Lucy Wood were 8-5 winners over Vasylyeva and Olszewska at No. 3 doubles.

Ivanov, Wood and Maiko Cook also posted wins in singles play for Tulane, giving the Green Wave the needed three points to secure victory. Ivanova recorded a 7-6, 6-2 win over Olszewska at No. 1 singles, while Cook turned in a 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 win over Ashleigh Dolman at the No. 5 spot. Wood posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Gorana Marsic on Court 6.

Oklahoma State made the match interesting with three wins of its own in singles play. Linda Faltynkova was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over Julie Morris at No. 2 singles, while Vasylyeva recorded a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win over Joyce Bergman on Court 3. Katia Kolodynska turned in a 6-1, 6-4 win over Saaibi at the No. 4 spot.

Tulane returns to action on Wednesday, April 10, when the Green Wave travel to Baton Rouge to face LSU.
