Foley was named the Conference USA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending April 8. The Cougar freshman went 2-0 last week at No. 1 singles to improve to 16-11 on the season and helped Houston (10-8, 1-2 C-USA) to team wins over Sam Houston State and then-No. 74 Texas Tech . Foley opened the week with a 6-2, 6-1 win over SHSU’s Tara Shelander and then concluded the week with a 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 victory over the Red Raiders’ Irina Tereschenko, who was ranked 109th nationally. In doubles action, she teamed with fellow freshman YOLANDI TERBLANCHE to post 8-4 win over the Sam Houston State’s tandem of Shelander and Mounia Hassib.

Men -
Jhonny Berrido, Louisville
Freshman, LaVega, Dominican Republic
Berrido was named the Conference USA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending April 8. Berrido helped the Cardinals to improve to 18-4 (2-1 C-USA) with a pair of wins over Ball State and Georgia State last week. Individually, he posted wins over Ball State’s Patrick Thompson (3-6, 6-1, 6-1) and Georgia State’s (6-1, 6-2), both at No. 5 singles. This season, Berrido is 18-2 in dual matches and leads the team with a 31-6 record with 29 of those victories coming in straight sets. He is one win shy of tying the U of L freshman record for wins (32) held by junior MATT MAYER.
