Cincinnati Sweeps Louisville To Move To 2-0 In C-USA
Kerr Moves Into UC's Top 10 In Career Singles Wins
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Cincinnati swept six singles matches and won the doubles point to drub Louisville 7-0 on Thursday afternoon, moving
the team's record to 2-0 against Conference USA opponents this season. Cincinnati has now won two consecutive matches and are 10-9
overall.
Senior Katie Kerr (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) won her 56th career match with a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 6 singles, pushing her into UC's
all-time Top 10 in career singles wins. She is one win from moving into eighth and two wins from sharing the seventh spot all-time.
Senior Kara Molony (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame) won easily at No. 1 singles, topping Katie McLaughlin 6-2, 6-0 to collect her 101st
career win. She also teamed with freshman sister Lyndsey Molony (Fort Mitchell, Ky/Notre Dame) to tally an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
The Bearcats used balance and its greater depth throughout the lineup to top the Cardinals. Five of UC's six singles wins came in
straight sets, with sophomore Khush Italia (West Hills, Calif./The Buckley School) coming back from a 6-4 loss in the first set to win 4-6,
6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
The Bearcats will be back in action on April 10 when they visit Dayton. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
