2004 Bracket (.pdf)
For the first time since the 1999 season, two women’s tennis teams have advanced to the NCAA Championship. No. 11 Tulane earned C-USA’s automatic bid by winning the league championship and will face Richmond (14-8) in Norman, Okla. No. 25 TCU has qualified for the NCAA’s for the first time under second-year head coach David Borelli and the seventh time in school history. The Horned Frogs will meet No. 42 SMU (17-10) in College Station, Texas. Dates and times are yet to be announced.
The winner from each regional will advance to Athens, Ga. for the NCAA Championship, May 20-29. Singles and doubles team selections for the championship will be announced on Thursday on the NCAA's website at www.ncaachampionship.com.
This season, Tulane posted a 25-1 mark, including a 16-1 record against ranked foes, while claiming its second consecutive C-USA Championship title and third overall under fifth-year head coach DAVID SHUMACHER. The Green Wave, who are currently on a 16-match win streak will face the Atlantic-10 Champion, Richmond. The Spiders are making their fourth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and have won nine of their last 10 matches.
TCU (17-7) finished the regular season on a 15-match winning streak before falling to then-No. 11 Tulane, 4-1, in Louisville, Ky. at the C-USA Championship. The Frogs met local-foe SMU earlier this season, defeating the Mustangs, 4-3, in Fort Worth.
