TCU's Aburto Qualifies for NCAA Singles Championship

TCU's Paty Aburto has earned an at-large bid, while Tulane’s Maria Ivanov was named an alternate for the 2004 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles Championship in Athens, Georgia beginning May 24.
Aburto, currently ranked No. 59 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, was one of five players from the Southwest Region, which includes Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas, to receive a bid to play in the 64-person tournament. From the West Region, Ivanov was a first-team All-Conference USA choice this season and was ranked as high as 47th by the ITA.
First- and second-round competition of the team championship will be conducted May 14-16 with the winner of each site advancing to the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., hosted by University of Georgia. The team championship will be held May 20-23. The singles and doubles championships will be held May 24-29.
