Bourgeois Earns Second-Team Academic All-American Honors In Men's Tennis
May 30, 2006 HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Senior men's tennis player Reid Bourgeois has been named as a 2006 ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-American as announced by CoSida today. Bourgeois, a River Ridge, La. native, finished his senior season with 3.67 GPA in finance and accounting along with a team-best 13-14 singles record, including an 8-10 spring singles record while playing No. 3-5 singles. In doubles, he teamed with freshman Domagoj Anic to lead the team with a 7-5 record. Bourgeois, a senior captain during the 2005-2006 season, ended his career with a 68-51 singles record, tying him for first all-time in career singles wins (68) with David Jansson, and a 41-37 doubles record, placing him fourth all-time in doubles wins (37). The Southern Miss tennis team concluded its season with a 6-14 record and tied for fifth place at the 2006 C-USA Tournament.
