Woisetschlager Named ITA All-American
PRINCETON, N.J - After completing the most successful season of his UAB
career, senior men's tennis player Martin Woisetschlger was named
Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American.
Woisetschlger finished 14th in the final WingspanBank.com Collegiate
Tennis rankings and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Individual
Championship. He was the Conference USA Co-Player of the Year, was named
First Team All-Conference and was twice named the C-USA Men's Tennis
Athlete of the Week. Woisetschlger was also named to the GTE Academic
All-District IV First Team. He posted a 31-10 singles record on the season
and a 90-34 career record at UAB. Woisetschlger record eight victories
over ranked opponents and helped lead the Blazers to their fifth NCAA
Tournament appearance last season.
In order to achieve All-American status in singles a player must meet one
of the following criteria: top 16 seed in NCAA Singles Championship, reach
round of 16 in NCAA Singles Championship or finish in the top 20 of the
final WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
