USF, Molony Earn Spot in NCAA Tournament
CHICAGO - The University of South Florida and KARA MOLONY of Cincinnati both earned places in the 2000 Division I Women's NCAA Championship. The team competition will begin May 12-14 at one of 16-designated on-campus regional sites. The team championships will be held at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, May 18-21. The singles and doubles championship will take place at Pepperdine University, May 22-26.
The Bulls (17-7), who received the automatic bid awarded to the C-USA tourney winner, advance to Winston Salem, North Carolina on May, 13 to face Mountain West Conference at-large representative San Diego State (15-9). It marks the fourth straight NCAA Championship appearance for the Bulls and their fifth overall.
Molony, C-USA Co-Tennis Player of the Year, broke six UC singles records this season, including season-singles wins (36), career wins (86), combined wins in a season (53), and career (136), consecutive matches won (19), and winning percentage (.900). She is also the first Bearcat in school history to earn a national ranking (No. 83).
