Saint Louis University men's tennis player Thomas Kwong (Tinley Park, Ill. / Andrews) earned one of 58 postgraduate scholarships awarded by the NCAA. The $7,500 scholarships were awarded to 29 men and 29 women who participated in spring sports which included baseball, women's equestrian, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's volleyball and women's water polo.
Kwong, a May 2004 Saint Louis University graduate, was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and twice received the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports-Scholar Award. He was the president of the SLU Student-Athlete Advisory Board for two years and was the liaison to the Conference USA Board. He played in 213 matches as a Billiken with a 15-14 senior year singles record. Kwong will continue his education in dental school next fall at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
"Thomas' attributes of leadership, compassion for his teammates and attention to detail will continue to benefit him as he moves on to his next endeavor," head coach Jonathan Zych said. "Thomas was instrumental in the growth and success of our program during his four years as a Billiken."
