Floyd has been a central focus of the Houston track and field team, earning All-American status in 2006 after advancing to the finals in the 200 meters at the NCAA Championships. She also would go on to finish fourth in the event at the USA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Houston native holds school records in the 60 meter, 200 meter and 400 meter events and is also a member of the school record holding 4x400 meter relay team. Floyd was a five-time Conference USA Champion in 2006.

Floyd finished her freshman season in 2003 after being named the C-USA Freshman of the Year after having won the 400 meters at the C-USA Outdoor Championships. She also won the 200 meters and the 400 meters at the C-USA Indoor Championships.

A member of the 2003 Conference USA Academic Honor Roll, Floyd has already set a new school record in 2007 in the 60 meters and has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters.
