IRVING, Texas - Conference USA has named Gloria Asumnu of Tulane and UTEP's Elias Koech its Female and Male Athletes of the Week, respectively. Asumnu tied for the best time in the nation this season, established a facility record, clocked an NCAA automatic time while winning the 60-meter dash in 7.26 Friday. Koech won the 400 meters with an NCAA provisional and personal-best time of 46.85.

Asumnu tied for the best time in the nation this season, established a facility record, clocked an NCAA automatic time while winning the 60-meter dash in 7.26 Friday at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup at the Horace Ashenfelter Multi-Sport Facility on the campus of Penn State University.

The next day she came back and won the 200m with a provisional qualifying time of 23.90, and assisted the 4x400 relay team to a second-place finish with their best time of 3:42.80 for the 2008 season.

Koech won the 400 meters with an NCAA provisional and personal-best time of 46.85 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., last weekend. Koech also had the second-fastest time in the prelims of 47.64.
