IRVING, Texas - UTEP picks up its fourth C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor for the season, while UCF records its first ever. UTEP's Mickael Hanany takes the men's award after finishing second with a 2.26m clearance in the high jump at the Drake Relays. C-USA OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD NOTEBOOK AND TOP PERFORMANCES Dione Thomas won the women's weekly honor after competing in four events at the prestigious Penn Relays. She was a part of three UCF record setting performances, while qualifying for nationals in one event. C-USA MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK MICKAEL HANANY, UTEP He currently leads the nation, Midwest Region and the league in the event with a clearance of 2.31m (7-7").
C-USA FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK DIONE THOMAS, UCF Thomas competed in four events at the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa., last weekend. She was a part of three UCF record setting performances, while qualifying for nationals in one event. Thomas established a UCF record with a second-place finish in the college section of the women's triple jump recording a personal-best and NCAA regional qualifying leap of 12.91m (42-4.25"). In the college section of the long jump, she finished seventh with a season-best leap of 6.06m (19-7.50"). She was also a member of UCF's record-setting 4x200m (1:36.34) and 4x100m (46.28 ) relay teams.
