Pirates Run Strong on Second Day of the NCAA Championships
Baton Rouge, La. - The East Carolina men`s track team completed another successful day at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by LSU
at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
In today`s action, junior Julien Dunkley qualified for tomorrow`s 100 meter
semi-finals. Dunkley finished 14th in the preliminaries today, finishing the
event in 10.46 seconds. The top nine from tomorrow`s semi-finals will go on
to Saturday`s finals.
The Pirates also saw the 4x400 meter relay team of senior Lawrence Ward,
freshman Domonick Richmond, junior Frankie Green, and freshman B.J. Henderson finish sixth in 3:05.34 to qualify for Saturday`s finals.
Henderson failed to qualify for the 400 meter dash finals as he finished in
12th place today, completing the race in 45.91 seconds.
This is the ninth time a 4x400 meter relay team from ECU has qualified for
the NCAA finals. The highest finish for the Pirates in the event has been
third, last accomplished during the 2000 Indoor Championships.
Tomorrow`s action includes the finals of the 4x100 relay at 7:00 p.m. and
the semi-finals of the 100 meter dash at 7:40 p.m.
