INDIANAPOLIS - All-American Gloria Asumnu set a new school record and finished as the top college-affiliated sprinter in the 100-meter dash last weekend at the AT&T 2007 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.

Asumnu made the semifinal round with her time of 11.19 seconds in the 100m, but an ankle injury during warm-ups before the first round heats plagued her through the rest of the weekend. In the 100m semifinals, Asumnu led the first 20 meters, but could not finish as strongly as she started. She did not participate in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman Nicolette Taku took seventh place in the Triple Jump competition Friday in the Finish Line 2007 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships, jumping 12.17 meters (39 feet 11.25 inches). Both athletes have an opportunity to compete for team USA this summer in world championship meets, including the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil and the 2007 World University Games in Thailand.
