ORLANDO - The UCF men's cross country team earned all-academic team status from the United States Cross Country Coaches' Association (USCCCA), the organization announced recently.

"This was a great way to cap off what was a fantastic season," said head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "The guys worked very hard in the classroom and in competition and I couldn't be any prouder of their success."

This was the second time that the Golden Knights have won the distinction as they were previously recognized in 2002.

The honor is given to squads with an average cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher that finished with five runners in their respective NCAA Regional. The Golden Knights posted a GPA of 3.19 just missing the all-academic with distinction award that requires a 3.25.

After each runner opened the season with personal bests, the Golden Knights went on to take fourth in their inaugural Conference USA Championship.
