Asumnu Claims All-America Honors in Outdoor Track and Field
June 12, 2007 NEW ORLEANS - NEW ORLEANS - Tulane senior sprinter Gloria Asumnu this week claimed All-America honors in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. She raced in the finals of both the 100m and 200m last week at the Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. The Houston native received Outdoor Track and Field All-America honors for the 100m and 200m dashes as well as the Indoor Track and Field 60m dash in March. At the NCAA Mideast Regional, Asumnu broke her own school records with times of 11.27 seconds in the 100m and 22.70 seconds in the 200m. Asumnu also holds school records in the Indoor 55m, 60m and 200m dashes. With the school records and three-time All-America honors, Asumnu cements her place as one of the greatest sprinters in Green Wave history.
