CONFERENCE USA CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Houston Freshman Stephaie Aldea and Nate Pineda have been named Conference USA Cross Country Athlete's of the Week after leading their teams to first place finishes in their opening collegiate meet at the Johnny Morriss Invitational in Houston, Texas on August 29, 2008.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

STEPHANIE ALDEA, HOUSTON/Fr., Windsor, Ontario, Canada (St. Anne's HS)

Aldea competed in her first cross country meet as a Cougar finishing first on the women's side at the Johnny Morriss Invitational in Houston. Her time of 11:13 in the women's 5k run led the Cougars to a first-place finish overall collecting a team total of 22 points in the meet.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

NATE PINEDA, HOUSTON/Fr., San Antonio, Texas (Holmes HS)

Pineda paced the Cougars as they claimed first-place honors in the Johnny Morriss Invitational. Competing in his first collegiate meet, Pineda clocked in at 15:06 in the 3-mile race taking second place individual honors.
