UTEP men won the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., while the Rice women took top honors in its own invitational. Both cross country athletes won individual medalist honors as Stephen Samoei clocked an 8K time of 24:, seven seconds faster than teammate Nicodemus Ng'etich. Marissa Daniels of Rice finished the soggy 4K race in a winning time of 14:06, nine seconds ahead of her nearest challenger.

Stephen Samoei, Jr., UTEP
UTEP's Stephen Samoei won individual honors at the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Saturday. The junior clocked a winning time of 24:47 in the 8K meet, seven seconds faster than teammate Nicodemus Ng'etich. The Miners won the invitational with 29 points, 49 points ahead of second-place Texas A&M.

Marissa Daniels, Jr., Rice
Marissa Daniels excelled in difficult running conditions Saturday to win individual medalist honors at the Rice Invitational in Houston. The junior finished the soggy 4K race in a winning time of 14:06, nine seconds ahead of her nearest challenger. Rice won the team title with 34 points, while SMU finished second with 43.
