C-USA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Women - Susan Barth, Marquette

Barth finished second overall out of 150 runners, leading Marquette to a first-place finish in the Bradley Invitational last Saturday. Barth notched a time of 17:46, placing her behind only Rachel Evjen of Northwestern (17:41).

Men - Joe Herrington, Marquette

Herrington finished first out of 121 competitors at the Bradley Invitational on Saturday. Posting a time of 25:01.34, Herrington was 21 seconds ahead of runner-up Jason Biakala of Eastern Illinois to lead the Eagles to a first-place tie with Eastern Illinois.

Women
Cincinnati finished eighth out of nine teams in the Miami Invitational on Saturday. ANGIE KIST led the Bearcats, finishing 14th with a time of 19:21, while JENNIFER LIMLE placed 28th (19:53) ... DePaul sophomore ERIN MOFFETT (20:02.24) and freshman MARLENE KEY (20.21.99) finished fifth and 10th, respectively to lead the Blue Demons to a fourth-place finish at the Bob Timmons Invitational on Saturday in Lawrence, Kan. ... Louisville placed sixth in the Miami Invitational on Saturday in Oxford, Ohio. ALICIA CAVENDER finished 18th with a time of 19:29.00 and posted her second top-20 finish of the season. EMILY DAUNHAUER finished 34th with a time of 20:09 ... Marquette claimed first place honors out of 10 teams at the Bradley Invitational. Junior SUSAN BARTH finished second overall out of 150 runners with a time of 17:46. Senior BETHANY HARRY (17:51) and sophomore BRIANNA DAHM (17:52) finished in third and fourth place, respectively ... WENDY RAGLE carried Memphis to a second place finish at the Murray State Invitational on Saturday in Murray, Ky. Posting a time of 12:13, Ragle finished just seven seconds behind winner Kaci Pilcher of Southeast Missouri. NORA NEMERE placed 20th with a time of 13:25.46, while LILLY LABRON crossed the finish line in 21st place (13:26) ... Southern Miss placed fourth at the Tulane Invitational last Saturday. JESSICA CRUMP led the Golden Eagles finishing seventh overall with a time of 12:26.30 over the two-mile course. ROSE KURUI also posted a strong showing, finishing ninth with a time of 12:31.10 ... TCU opened the season with a second-place finish out of six teams in the UTA Movin' Mavs Cross Country Challenge. GLADY KEITANY earned individual medalist honors, posting a time of 11:18 and posting her fifth win career win ... EVA LUSTIGOVA led Tulane to a first place finish in the Tulane Invitational last weekend. Competing in her first meet for the Green Wave, Lustigova was the individual winner, covering the two-mile course in 11:42.20 and defeating 73 other runners ... UAB placed seventh in the UAH/Howard Bentley Invitational this past weekend. Senior CARLA KELLY finished eighth with a time of 20:07 over the 5,000-meter course. HEATHER BURDETT placed seventh with a time of 20:50.


Men
Junior CHRIS REIS led Cincinnati to a second place finish in the Miami Invitational last Saturday. Reis finished second overall in a time of 25:57. Senior CHRIS CAMFIELD, after missing all of 2000 with an injury, followed Reis placing seventh overall (26:36) ... DePaul finished third out of seven teams in the Bob Timmons Invitational on Saturday. Senior CHRIS BIRCHALL led the pack for most of the race and finished fourth with a time of 26:39.01. LARRY VONCKX (27:02.16) and LUIS SAMAYOA (27:13.84) placed eighth and 10th, respectively ... Louisville placed sixth in the Miami Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore CURTIS PERSINGER finished 32nd overall with a time of 28:09.00, and MIKE HORAN crossed the line in 40th place with a time of 28:29.00 ... Marquette tied for first place with Eastern Illinois at the Bradley Invitational last Saturday. Senior JOE HERRINGTON took home first place honors out of 121 competitors with a time of 25:01.34. Junior KYRK JORDAN (25:56.89) and senior LUKE KUNZE (26:06.47) also turned in strong performances, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively ... Memphis placed second in the Murray State Invitational last weekend. DEREK NAKLUSKI led the way, finishing third overall in a time of 21.30. BALASZ LASZLO (21:53) and RICKY MCLEAN (21.59) followed in fourth and fifth place, respectively ... TCU finished sixth in the UTA Movin' Mavs Challenge, where they were led by ELIUD NJUBI, who claimed individual medalist honors. Njubi completed the four-mile race with a time of 19:54.20 and claimed his fifth individual title in two seasons ... Tulane earned second place honors at the Tulane Invitational. Senior SOLOMON KANDIE won the individual title with a time of 14:33.40, and senior MESHACK MULUPI finished second (15:03.70).
