    C-USA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
    Women - Jessie Oakes, Houston
    Oakes claimed individual medalist honors, leading Houston to a first-place finish in the Houston Invitational last Friday. Oakes posted a time of 17:13, finishing 17 seconds ahead of Texas-Pan American's Perla Rios-Handly (17:30).

    Men - Chris Reis, Cincinnati
    Reis finished second out of 102 competitors at the Illinois Invitational on Saturday. Reis' posted a personal-best time of 24:08 to lead the Bearcats to a fifth-place finish in the team standings. In the last three races, only two runners have finished ahead of Reis, and only by a combined six seconds.

    Women
    Cincinnati finished ninth out of 15 teams in the Illinois Invitational on Sept. 22. ANGIE KIST led the Bearcats, placing 19th (18:13), while teammate JENNIFER LIMLE finished 24th with a time of 18:17 ... For the second straight meet, DePaul sophomore ERIN MOFFETT (18:35) was the Blue Demons' top finisher, placing 14th out of 201 runners at the National Catholic Invitational. The Blue Demons finished fifth out of 26 teams and will next compete at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Sept. 29 ... East Carolina earned first-place honors at the Lake Kristi Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore JOHANNA ALLEN claimed individual medalist honors with a time of 17:35.8, breaking the ECU school and course record of 17:44, held by Ann Marie Welch (1991). Junior KAY LIVICK took third place with a time of 18:37.9 ... Houston finished first out of four teams at the Houston Invitational on Friday. JESSIE OAKES paced the Cougars with a first-place finish in a time of 17:13. VERONICA RAMIREZ (17:51) and HEATHER HOWSE (17:57) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Louisville placed fourth out of 23 teams in the Commodore Classic on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. ALICIA CAVENDER led the Cardinals, posting a time of 19:21 to finish in 17th place. Junior MAREA INGWERSEN (19:38) and sophomore EMILY DAUNHAUER (19:39) also placed 25th and 26th, respectively ... No. 15 Marquette Golden Eagles claimed their second team title of the season at the National Catholic Invitational on Friday. BRIANNA DAHM finished second overall with a time of 17:36. BETHANY HARRY finished fourth with a time of 17:38. Marquette will take a split squad to two meets this weekend. On Saturday, they will participate in the Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis and the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago ... Memphis finished 18th out of 25 teams in the Commodore Invitational on Saturday. NORA NEMERE paced the Tigers, finishing 71st with a time of 21.04 ... Saint Louis finished 17th out of 26 teams at the National Catholic Invitational on Saturday in South Bend, Ind. SARAH MOBERG (20:14) and EMILY ZIMMERMAN (20:16) placed 81st and 83rd, respectively. Southern Miss captured its own 22nd Annual Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 21. JANET RONO won the individual title with a time of 17:59.16, while KERI WHITE earned fourth-place honors ... TCU placed third out of 13 teams at the Baylor Invitational on Saturday. For the second straight meet, GLADY'S KEITANY claimed individual medalist honors with a time of 17:22 ... Tulane claimed its second straight team title of the season at the Cajun Classic on Saturday in Lafayette, La. EVA LUSTIGOVA captured the individual title, covering the three-mile course in 18:19. KATRINA GEMMELL (18:25) and LYNDIE GALKA (18:27) finished third and fifth, respectively.

    Men
    Cincinnati finished fifth out of 14 teams in the Illinois Invitational on Sept. 22. Junior CHRIS REIS finished second for the second straight meet and posted a personal-best time of 24:08. CHRIS CAMFIELD also placed eighth with a time of 24:30. The Bearcats will return to action on Oct. 5 at the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio ... DePaul placed fourth at the National Catholic Invitational in South Bend, Ind. CHRIS BIRCHALL finished sixth in a field of 176 competitors with a time of 25:08, while LARRY VONCKX notched a time of 25:37 for 13th place. The Blue Demons will next compete at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Saturday in Chicago ... East Carolina captured first at the Lake Kristi Invitational on Sept. 22. Freshman MATT HANLON was the Pirates' top finisher, earning a second-place finish in a time of 27:18.5. CHARLIE NICKUM followed in third place with a time of 27:20.7 ... Houston won the Houston Invitational on Sept. 21. TOARTOU KARGOU claimed individual medalist honors with a time of 21:03, while JARED KUNTZ (21:05) and JUAN CARDENAS (21:11) finished second and third, respectively ...CURTIS PERSINGER led Louisville to a fourth-place finish in the team standings at the Commodore Classic on Saturday. Persinger finished in 14th place with a time of 27:26.30, while senior JUSTIN BANKS finished five seconds behind (27:31.98) in 16th place. The Cardinals return to action when they host the Cardinal Classic on Oct. 6 ... Marquette finished second out of 26 teams in the National Catholic Invitational. JOE HERINGTON placed fourth with a time of 24:46 and LUKE KUNZE (25:24) claimed 10th place ... Saint Louis placed 19th out of 26 teams at the National Catholic Invitational. PETE MOSHER paced the Billikens with a time of 27:15 to finish 81st ... TCU claimed third place out of 10 teams at the Baylor Invitational on Sept. 22. ELIUD NJUBI won the five-mile race with a time of 24:45, 29 seconds ahead of Baylor's Ferenc Bekesi (25:14) ... Tulane captured the team title at the Rajin' Cajun Invitational on Sept. 22. For the second consecutive meet, senior SOLOMON KANDIE was the individual winner for the Green Wave with a time of 21.43. ANTHONY LAGAT (22:16) and MESHACK MULUPI (22:21) also posted strong performances, finishing second and third, respectively.
