Cincinnati finished 24th in the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday morning. Junior ANGIE KIST was the first Bearcat to cross the finish line in a time of 22:37. KELLY CRUM finished less than a minute behind Kist with a time of 23:16. Cincinnati will be in action on Friday, Oct 6. at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
Houston recorded a second place finish in the Texas-San Antonio Invitational on Friday. MONICA REYNA paced the Cougars to its best finish of the season finishing the race fourth overall with a time of 19:33. JULIE PEREZ (20:22) and JESSICA OAKES (20:24) finished 12th and 13th respectively. The Cougars return to action Sept. 30 as they travel to the Oklahoma State Invitational in Stillwater, Okla.
KIM SHORE (10th, 23:54) led Louisville in the Miami University Fall Classic on Saturday in Oxford, Ohio. The Cardinals finished fifth overall in the 6,000-meter race. Louisville will compete next in the Vanderbilt Invitational September 30, in Nashville, Tenn.
Ranked 23rd in the nation, Marquette finished eighth out of 29 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday. The Golden Eagles finished the race ahead of (21) Missouri and (25) Wake Forest. SUSAN BARTH led the way for Marquette finishing 17th out of 239 runners with a time of 21:41. Marquette competes in the Lake Front Invitational, September 30 in Chicago, Ill.
Memphis placed second in the Arkansas State University Pizza Inn-Dian Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore WENDY RAGLE led the Tigers finishing fifth, with a time of 15:57.6 in the 4,000-meter course. Also finishing in the top 10 was Lily Lebron (8th, 16:09.4). The Tigers participate in the Vanderbilt Invitational, September 30In the National Catholic Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
Saint Louis finished 14th out of 25 teams. Junior AIMEE WALTHER led the way for the Billikens with a time of 18:33, the second fastest time in school history. She finished eighth out of 172 runners. The Billikens will host the Cross Country-Only Championships, September 30 in Saint Louis, Mo.
Southern Miss won its first meet of the season placing first in the Azalea City Invitational Cross Country Meet, Friday evening. The Golden Eagles placed four runners in the top ten including JESSICA CRUMP, who finished second overall with a time of 19:54.77. KERI WHITE (3rd, 20:00.29), OBY AMADI (6th, 20:37.46), and KENDRA DOYLE (8th, 20:59.41) all finished in the top 10. Southern Miss will have a weekend off before hosting the Southern Miss Invitational, Oct.6
THERESA MARU finished second to pace Tulane to a second place finish in the Ragin' Cajuns/Popeyes Invitational on Saturday. LYNDIC GALKA finished second for the Green Wave with a time of 19:29.90, 10th overall. CARYLINE PRADIEU (14th, 19:58.01) and ANGELA MILNER (18th, 20:04.09) rounded out the top 20 finishers for Tulane. The Green Wave will be back in action Sept. 30 at the LSU Invitational.
Cincinnati finished 27th in the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 23. Sophomore CHRIS REISS paced the Bearcats once again finishing 28th with a time of 25:03. VINCENT FRIES (125th, 26:00) was second to cross the line for the Bearcats.
Houston finished the Texas San-Antonio Invitational with a first place finish on Friday. The Cougars were led by MIKE OLAGUE, who was the individual champion completing the course in 20:42. TARTOU KARGOU (2nd, 21:31), JARED KUNTZ (3rd, 21:35), GARY SKINNER (5th, 21:59) and JUAN CARDENAS (10th, 22:35) rounded out the top 10 for Houston.
Louisville finished third in the Miami University Fall Classic with 86 points. MARK BIROS finished 10th with a time of 26:42. JUSTIN BANKS was the second Cardinal to cross the finish line with a time of 27:49, 22nd overall.
Marquette finished 28th in the Roy Griak Invitational. Senior JOEL BRUESWITZ was Marquette's top finisher with a time of 26:13. Junior LUKE KUNZE (26:17) and junior ADAM LINDELL (26:20) completed the race 146th and 151st respectively.
Sophomore BRANDON MIDDLETON led Saint Louis to a 18th place finish in the National Catholic Cross Country Meet. Middleton finished the 8,000-meter course with a time of 26:48, which was 36th overall.
Tulane's PETER ROTICH (20:51.59), won the individual title at the Ragin' Cajuns/Popeyes Invitational on Saturday. MESHACK MULDI finished second for Tulane, completing the race in 21:11.19 and placing 5th overall. ANTHONY LEGAT (8th, 21:39.92) ADAM LESKIS (12th, 22:37.29) and PHILLIP ROMERO (14th, 22:43.44) rounded out the top 15 finishers for the Green Wave.
