Charlotte Teams Run at UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Charlotte's cross country teams returned to action Saturday, running at the UNC Invitational at Finley Field in Chapel Hill. The men placed second, while the women finished third.

Ian Dickinson paced the men's team with a time of 26:24 to finish fourth. Dan Monroe was right behind him in fifth place with a 26:25 time. Ed Schlichter also finished in the top 10, placing eighth with a time of 26:45. As a team, the men scored 40 points, just two behind North Carolina in first.

Jen Taylor led the 49ers' women, earning a fifth-place finish with a time of 18:54. Laura Syracuse rounded out the top 10 for the Niners with a 19:47 time. North Carolina won the women's race with 56 points. Virginia Commonwealth placed second with 56, while Charlotte was third with 61.

Charlotte will take next weekend off before running in the Furman Invitational Oct. 14.
