Tulane Cross Country Sweeps Top Honors at LSU Invitational
BATON ROUGE, La. - The Tulane women's and men's cross country teams each
claimed a victory in the LSU Invitational on Saturday morning. Theresa
Maru and Solomon Kandie ran to a second place finish in the women's 6000
meter and men's five mile respectively.
The top three teams in the men's and women's races were identical as
McNeese State finished in second and host school LSU rounded out the top
three. McNeese State's Sita Waru won the women's race with a time of
20:46.88 and LSU's Likhaya Dayile won the men's race with a 24:56.94.
The Green Wave women had three top 10 finishes led by Maru's runner-up
time of 20:57.25. Hanne Lyngstad (21:46.26) notched a sixth place
finish, while Katrina Gemmell (22:28.65) finished in ninth.
The Wave men were led by Kandie who finished the race in second with a
time of 25:08.95. Tulane had three other top ten finishers including
Peter Rotich (5th, 25:40.87), Anthony Lagat (8th, 26:01.92) and Meshack
Mulupi (10th, 26:08.21).
