Cross Country Notes for October 3

Women

Charlotte finished third in the UNC Invitational on Saturday. JEN TAYLOR led the 49ers, placing seventh with a time of 18:54. Charlotte will take next week off before running in the Furman Invitational on Oct. 14

MARY VONCKX paced DePaul at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational finishing 56th overall with a time of 23:34. ERIN MOFFETT (59th, 23:25), was the second DePaul runner to cross the finish line. The Blue Demons will run next at the Tiger Invitational on Oct. 14

Houston placed sixth in the Oklahoma State Cross Country Jamboree on Saturday. Leading the way was MONICA REYNA, who finished 23rd with a time of 18:51. JULI PEREZ (19:13) and JESSICA OAKES (19:18) finished 30th and 32nd, respectively. The Cougars travel to South Bend, Ind. next to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday

23rd ranked Marquette claimed first place in the LaSalle Invitational in Philadelphia on Saturday. SUSAN BARTH won the individual title with a time of 17:54.4. Rounding out the top three were BETHANY HARRY (2nd, 18:11.73) and Jessica Swan (3rd, 18:17). The Golden Eagles will run next at the Pre-NCAA Invite on Oct 14

Saint Louis brought home a fifth place finish in the Cross Country-Only National Championships. AIMEE WALTHER paced the Billikens finishing sixth overall with a time of 23:00. Saint Louis competes next in the Saluki Invitational on Saturday

South Florida brought home its third title of the season with a first place finish in the Greensboro Invitational last Saturday. Senior RITA ARNDT finished second overall in a time of 17:58 over the 5,000-meter course. CORI KILL (5th), KRISTY FULLER (7th), TARA QUINN (8th), TIFFANY QUINN, (9th) and JEN DORNA (10th), all finished in the top 10. The Bulls compete next in the Florida Intercollegiate Invitational on Oct. 13

THERESA MARU led Tulane to the team title at the LSU Invitational on Saturday. Maru finished second out of 69 runners with a time of 20:57.25 over the 6,000-meter course. The Green Wave runs next at the Auburn Bank Invitational this Saturday.

Men

Freshman IAN DICKINSON (5th, 26:24) helped Charlotte to a second place finish in the UNC Invitational on Saturday. DAN MONROE finished behind Dickinson with a time of 26:25

DePaul's LUIS SAMAYOA recorded his second-best effort this season, finishing 15th out of 444 runners with a time of 25:44 in the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Saturday

Houston finished ninth at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Jamboree this past Saturday. MIKE OLAGUE paced the Cougars finishing 11th overall with a time of 24:52. The next best finisher for Houston was TOARTU KARGOU (59th, 26:28)

Marquette finished fourth in the LaSalle Invitational on Saturday. JOEL BRUSEWITZ finished the course in 13th place with a time of 25:53. ADAM LINDELL (17th, 26:01) and JONATHAN CHENIER (20th, 26:23) rounded out the top finishers for Marquette

Memphis finished 13th out of 26 teams at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday. Leading the way for the Tigers was BALAZS LASZIO, who finished ninth overall with a time of 26:20. RYAN SMITH was the next tiger to cross the finish line with a time of 27:36

Saint Louis finished third in the Cross Country-Only National Championships. BRANDON MIDDLETON finished second overall with a time of 27:43. TOM FERRELL finished directly behind with a time of 28:31

ANDREW SMITH led South Florida winning the individual title with a time of 25:12. The Bulls brought home their third straight team title, just edging second place Tennessee. RUSS GERBERS (25:17) and BARRY EGAN (25:25) finished second and third respectively. RICHARD JONES (5th) and MATT JOHNSON (8th) rounded out the top 10 for South Florida

Tulane won the LSU Invitational team title on Saturday. SOLOMON KANDIE paced the Green Wave finishing second with a time of 25:08.95. Rounding out the top 10 were PETER ROTICH (5th, 24:40.87), ANTHONY LAGAT (8th, 26:01.92), and MESHACK MULUPI (10th, 26:08.21).
