Billiken Men and Women Give Strong Performance at Indiana State Invitational

The Saint Louis University men's and women's cross country teams finished eighth and 11th, respectively at the Indiana State University Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday morning. The men's team totalled 224 points for an eighth place finish, just one point behind seventh place St. Joseph's. Meanwhile, the women recorded an 11th place with 294 points.

Junior Joe Porter was the top finisher for the Billikens, finishing the 8K course in 27:06, good for 40th place overall. Freshman Paul Lemon placed 49th overall with a time of 27:27. Another freshman, Jason Genta was third for SLU in 27:59. Dan Herman and Jimmy Holmes rounded out the top five for the Billikens.

For the women, freshman Beth Shearman finished 29th overall, running 23:27 for the 6K distance. Emily Zimmerman came home second for SLU in 24:28. Senior Sarah Moberg recorded a 24:47 to place third for the Bills. Jamie Branham was fourth for the team, and Reilly DeSantis placed fifth for Saint Louis.
