C-USA Cross Country Notebook
IRVING, Texas- The pair of Houston freshman, Stephanie Aldea and Nate Pineda, sweeps Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season. Both established personal best records at the Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Stephanie Aldea, Houston
Fr., Windsor, Ontario, Canada
Aldea clocked a career-best 5K time of 17:28 at the Disney World Cross Country Classic last weekend. She finished second overall in the 350 plus field. The freshman has placed among the top three in fourth-straight race this season. This is Aldea’s third career Athlete of the Week honor.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nate Pineda, Houston
Fr., San Antonio, Texas
Pineda set a personal-best record of 26:06 in the 8K Disney World Cross Country Classic where he finished 15th overall. The freshman led the Cougars to a seventh-place team finish among a field of 38 teams. This is his second weekly honor of the year.
