East Carolina's Kyle MacKenzie and TCU's Mary Kinyanjui, the reigning Conference USA invididual champion on the women's side, were honored as the C-USA Male and Female Athletes of the Week. These will be the last weekly awards of the season, as only the Memphis men's squad will be in action next weekend before DePaul hosts the C-USA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Palos Hills Forest Preserve just outside of Chicago.

Female Athlete of the Week
Mary Kinyanjui TCU (Sr., Kiambu, Kenya)
Kinyanjui returned from a calf injury that sidelined her for a week to post a personal best time of 20:37.8 en route to a fourth-place finish at the Chili Pepper Festival Cross Country meet in Fayetteville, Ark. The defending C-USA individual champion helped lead the Horned Frogs to a seventh place finish among 31 teams.
Male Athlete of the Week
Kyle MacKenzie East Carolina (Sr., Krystal Lake, Ill./Prarie Ridge H.S.)
MacKenzie led the Pirates to their first team win of the season at the North Carolina Collegiate Championships. The senior posted a sixth-place finish covering the 8K course in 25:03.32.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The MEMPHIS mens squad will be the only team in competition this weekend as they travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the SEMO Invitational on Saturday
The rest of the league teams are taking the weekend off to rest and prepare for the Conference USA Cross Country Championships slated for Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Palos Hills Forest Preserve just outside of Chicago, Ill.
The womens championship 6K race will start at 10:30 a.m., and will be followed the mens championship 8K race at 11:30 a.m.
WOMEN
Five C-USA teams took advantage of their opportunity to run the Lavern Gibson Championship Course where the upcoming NCAA Championships (Monday, Nov. 22) will be held. The Pre-NCAA meet, hosted by Indiana State University, featured 14 of the top 30 squads in the nation according to the Finish Lynx/Womens Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association poll
CHARLOTTE, CINCINNATI, LOUISVILLE, MARQUETTE and USF each represented C-USA at the event in the Blue Field race
Junior JANE DANIELS led Charlotte with a 67th-place finish in the Blue Race field at the meet
Daniels clocked a time of 21:53.2
Senior RUTH LIMO once again was the top Bearcat finisher as she led Cincinnati to a 37th-place team finish
Limo, who had the fourth best time among C-USA athletes, placed 51st, completing the 6K course in 21:43.0 ... For Louisville, senior CORRYN McCRAE was the top Cardinal finisher covering the course in 24:31.8
McCrae placed 140th out of 191 runners
Marquette junior JODI JAKUBEK led all C-USA athletes to the finish line with a 37th-place showing and the Golden Eagles were the top C-USA team at the event finishing 13th
Jakubek ran the course in a time of 21:30, just three seconds in front of teammate Heidi Lindeman, who placed 41st
USF placed second among C-USA schools and 24th overall
CHRISTA BENTON clocked the teams best time placing 38th in 21:32.1
BENTE GENERAL took 60th in 21:49.2
HOUSTON, TCU and UAB each competed at the Chili Pepper Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville
The Cougars placed 20th as a team and were led by VERONICA RAMIREZ, who finished 76th overall with a time of 23:02.9
TCU got a strong effort from Mary Kanjanyui as she returned from a calf injury after missing the previous meet to lead the Horned Frogs to a seventh-place finish
Kanjanyui placed fourth overall and was the second Division I-A runner to cross the finish line
She ran a personal best time of 20:37.8 on the 6K course, CALANDRA STEWART finished 16th in 21:29.2
For UAB, sophomore Elizabeth Ambrus led the Blazers to a fifth-place finish, which was tops among the trio of C-USA schools
Ambrus took ninth overall in 21:01.9, while sophomore ELIZABETH HILLIGOSS finished 22nd in 21:38.9
LEAH RYGH and ERIN MOFFET led DE PAUL to a 20th-place finish at the Penn State National Invitational
Rygh was 25th overall with Moffett just behind in 26th
Rygh and Moffett finished with respective times of 21:36 and 21:37 in the 6K race
EAST CAROLINA came through with a second-place finish at the North Carolina Collegiate Championships
JESSICA COLLINS led all Division I runners in the 5K race with a time of 17:47.37
Collins finished sixth overall, just ahead of teammate JOHANNA ALLEN, who took ninth in 18:01.68
SAINT LOUIS competed at the Evansville Invitational where the Billikens finished sixth
EMILY ZIMMERMAN was top Billiken finisher, placing 34th in the 5K race with a time of 19:32.94 ... The MEMPHIS, SOUTHERN MISS and TULANE womens teams were both off this weekend.

Senior ED SCHLICHTER finished 120th overall, while freshman NICK SUNSERI was 128th to lead Charlotte to a 30th-place team finish in the White race
The Cincinnati mens team took 26th overall in the White race as senior ERIC BAIR led the way with an 86th-place finish
Bair finished the 8K course in 25:13.0
Also scoring for Cincinnati was sophomore KEVIN SCHWARZ, who placed 102nd in 25.19.4
For Louisville, sophomore NURANI SHEIKH led the way for the first time this season
Sheikh finished 109th covering the 8K course in 25:19.9
The Cardinals, who had won their first four races, finished 31st overall in the Blue race
Marquette was once again led by junior BRENT DES ROCHES, who took 71st place with a time of 24:57.8
The Golden Eagles was the top C-USA team in the Blue race, taking 30th
USF ran in the Open race and finished 12th among 13 teams
RYAN THOMAS led the Bulls with a 112th-place finish in 26:47
HOUSTON and TCU both ran at the Chili Pepper Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas
The Cougars top runner was Tyler Stanfield, who had the 34th fastest time in the 10K race of 31:03.7
SESAR FIGUEROA finished in 37th place with a time of 31:11.2
For TCU, ALEX MORRIS was the top finisher completing the 10K course in 32:41.9 to take 101st overall
The Horned Frogs finished 26th among the 31 competing teams
DE PAUL took 25th overall at the Penn State National Invite
GAVIN KENNEDYS 37th place finish overall led the Blue Demons
Kennedy clocked a time of 26:29 on the 5.2 mile course
ANTHONY BECKNEK finished 50th in 26:38
EAST CAROLINA won the North Carolina Collegiate Championship as KYLE MACKENZIE and MATT HANLON both turned in top 10 performances
MacKenzie completed the 8K race in 25:03.32, while Hanlon was just over three seconds behind in 25:07.05
SAINT LOUIS placed fourth at the Evansville Invitational behind a 11th-place finish by senior JOE PORTER
Porter finished the 8K course in 26:29.16, while teammate DAN HERMAN posted a personal-best time of 27:17.83 to finish 29th
The MEMPHIS and TULANE mens teams were not in action this weekend.
